A subject I know little about

The subject of tonight’s #leadfromwithin Twitter chat is one I know very little about… the Enneagram of personality.

Am I an INTJ or ENTJ?

Well, maybe I know a little about it, but more along the lines of the personality styles. I have consistently been identified as an INTJ, and sometimes an ENTJ, according to the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator.

My understanding of the differences between the two are Extrovert versus Introvert tendencies. I think I move between the two based on situation and circumstance.

It’s interesting how accurately these inventories can identify and help you understand your own wiring; which of course, can help you in relationships with others. In my opinion based on limited scientific or psychological knowledge, it would seem natural that the better you understand your own wiring, the more in tune you can become to how you approach others and different situations. This, of course, could lead to a higher emotional intelligence.

Again, this is just my uneducated conclusion. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting subject for sure. Looks like I have some reading to do!

You can take a sample of the Myers-Brigg test for free by clicking here. There are lots of these on the web; this one looked the most straight-forward on a quick search (NOT an endorsement).

Would you share your results? What is your personality type? Does possessing this knowledge help guide and understand your interactions with others?
